Description
Horizontal rectangular wool tapestry lined with dark green cotton, with metal rings across the top to suspend; Greek figures in a landscape with mythological figures (Pan, Satyr, Bacchus, etc.) and angels in the sky; brown and gold acanthus leaf border around all sides.

Gallery Label
The tapestry was part of a series known as "Het Plaisier der Goden" (The Pleasure of the Gods), produced by Judocus de Vos after designs by Jan van Orley (1665-1735) and Augustin Coppens (1668-1740). This example was acquired in Paris in 1881 by New York merchant and art collector Robert L. Stuart. It hung in his mansion at Fifth Avenue and 68th Street and after 1893 was displayed in the Stuart Gallery at the Lenox Library.
