Gallery Label
McWhorter (1734-1807) was born in New Castle County, Delaware, the son of Scottish parents who had come to America about 1730. He was ordained as a Presbyterian minister in 1759 and in the years that followed held pastorates in Newark, New Jersey, in Boston, and in Charlotte, North Carolina.
