Salt-glazed stoneware wine keg with hand inscribed mark on top and elaborately decorated with hand incised and cobalt blue painted with fish, bird, and leaves.
Purchased from Elie Nadelman
incised: by hand on keg top: "Oliver Dubois/Zanesville Ohio/Sept. 11 1821/Price $200"
It is possible that this keg was made on the East Coast and brought to Ohio. The Zanesville pottery industry boomed in the 1890s.
