This cross was created by John Misha, a 15 year veteran of the FDNY who volunteered during recovery efforts at Ground Zero. According to Misha, he found this length of chain in the rubble which he welded to form a cross. He placed it on a wooden altar left by a little girl and a man who possibly had a relative who died on 9/11. Workers at Ground Zero and later Saint Paul's Chapel, left votive objects such as rosaries and crosses at the shrine.
