White metal struck medal with obverse showing nude bust of George Washington surrounded by stars; legend: "THE CENTENNIAL YEAR OF OUR NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE/1876." Reverse has star at center with date: "1776" and surrounding legend: "BATTLE OF HARLEM PLAINS/SEPTEMBER 16/4/NEW YORK." Hole punched at top center.
