Bronze struck medal, obverse with uniformed bust of John P. Jones facing right surrounded by legend: "JOANNI PAVLO JONES CLASSIS PRAEFECTO/COMITIA AMERICANA." Reverse shows naval battle with legend: "HOSTIVM NAVIBVS CAPTIS AVTOFVGATIS"; inscription in ex.: "AD ORAM SCOTIAE XXIII.SEPT./M.DCCLXXVIIII."
