Bronze struck medal, with obverse showing uniformed bust of Johnston Blakely facing right with surrunding legend: "JOHNSTON BLAKELEY REIP. FAED. AM. NAV. WASP DUX." Reverse shows naval battle scene with legend: "EHEU! BIS VICTORPATRIA TUA TE LUGET PLAUDITQ." and inscription below exergual line: "INTER WASP NAV. AMERI./ET REINDEER NAV. ANG./DIE XXVIII JUNIUS/MDCCCXIV."
