Description
Gold and enamel Chevevalier's badge of the French Legion of Honor with silk ribbon; a white cross with laurel wreaths hangs from a crown. The central medallion bears the image of Napoleon I wearing a laurel wreath, and is bordered in blue and gold. The obverse of the central medalion shows an eagle perched on a branch.

The Legion of Honor was established in 1802 by Napoleon Bonaparte during the Consulate period, to reward civil and military service to France. It is currently France's highest order. "Chevalier" is one of the classes of the order.
