The electric iron was first patented in 1882 and quickly became an essential household tool. In the 1930's and 40's manufacturers began to produce irons with new, streamlined designs that reflected industrial design trends. General Mills ventured into the manufacture of applicances after WWII. This "Tru Heat" iron features an innovative steam attachment.
