Description
Bronze struck medal with obverse showing nude bust of Washington facing right with legend around scalloped border decorated with thirteen stars: "FIRST PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA/deo patriaeque fidelis." Reverse depicts seascape at center with legend above: "HEC OLIM MEMINISSE JUVABIT" and shield containing seal of New York below, with three flags with laurel branches on either side; legend within line border: "TO COMMEMORATE THE WASHINGTON INAUGURAL CENTENNIAL/NEW YORK CITY 1789 - APRIL 30 - 1889."
