Copper struck medal with obverse showing half-length figure of Admiral Vernon facing left, with baton in right hand; fluke of anchor in front; legend within line border: "ADMIRAL VERNON TOOK PORTO BELLO." Reverse shows group of sailing ships with legend: "WITH SIX SHIPS ONLY"; in exergue: "NOV. 22. 1739."
