Silver struck medal with obverse showing allegorical head of France crowned with laurel wreath; legend: "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE." Reverse depicts winged figure of Fame blowing trumpet at center, with figure of nude youth holding rectangular tablet inscribed: "HALE/& PARSHALL"; aerial view of exhibition grounds beneath; legend: "EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE INTERNATIONALE DE 1878"; in exergue: "PARIS."
