This transfer-printed plate is from a set of twelve produced by the Adams pottery of Staffordshire, England around 1920. Each plate in the set depicts a plate from John James Audubon's Birds of America, in this case, the "American Flamingo." According to the printed mark on the reverse, the images are from the "original drawings"; however, they are more likely based on the Robert Havell engravings. The plates were all transfer printed in a single color with additional details painted by hand. This example, however, is unfinished and does not include any painted details.
