Description
European cup and saucer form painted in pinks, gold, blues, and whites; on verso, saucer images include Japanese fan decorated with morning glory, sparrows, butterflies, as well as medallion with waves and cranes; on recto, saucer is painted with gold birds; cup has similar images and patterns, including fan with herons and medallion of bamboo with sparrows.

Both cup and saucer are signed in Japanese characters, marked as made in Nippon and translated as "Made by Imura, Yokohama Japan"
Gallery Label
Cup and saucer were decorated at Imura Workshop in Yokohama, Japan. Porcelain of this type was generally produced in the Seto area near Nagoya and then shipped to Yokohama for decoration.
