Mahogany Louis XVI rafraichissoir; two circular open wells flanked by two oblong wells (copper linings missing) at rear of top; one drawer with single wooden pull (replacement) above two open shelves with incurving sides; cabriole legs terminating in brass sabots and casters. Marble top missing.

This rafraichissoir (a stand for cooling and serving wine) came from the home of Gouverneur Morris (1752-1816) and was inherited by Peter Randolph Morris. It was likely purchased by Gouverneur Morris in Paris while he was serving as United States Minister to France.
