The world of Hollywood film costume design has always been dominated by inspired and talented gay designers, their work showcased gorgeously in classic films like The Wizard of Oz, Gone with the Wind, Some Like It Hot, and Love Affair, to name only a few.
Join us as Edward Maeder, consulting curator of our exhibition Walk This Way: Footwear from the Stuart Weitzman Collection of Historic Shoes, looks at the work of four gay film costume designers from the Golden Age of film―Gilbert Adrian, Walter Plunkett, Orry-Kelly, and Howard Greer―and explores how the films and lives of this creative group of artists have inspired us with the glamour, imagination, and simply beautiful clothes that we associate with film.
Edward Maeder is the author/consulting curator of Walk This Way: Footwear from the Stuart Weitzman Collection of Historic Shoes. Book signing will follow the program. Arrive at 6pm to view the exhibition!
There will be a standby line the evening of the program. To be added, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
