In July 1863, Union and Confederate troops met in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and in three days forever changed the course of American history. Three of America’s most renowned Civil War historians discuss one of the bloodiest and most haunting battles of the American Civil War.

James M. McPherson, Professor Emeritus at Princeton, is a Pulitzer Prize-winning historian. His latest book is War on the Waters. John F. Marszalek is executive director of the Ulysses S. Grant Association and the author of Sherman’s Other War. Harold Holzer (moderator) has written or edited more than 40 books on Lincoln and the Civil War and is a recipient of the National Humanities Medal.
