TITLE: Development Volunteer
DEPARTMENT: Development
REPORTS TO: Director of Individual Giving

The New-York Historical Society is currently looking for Development Volunteers to assist with the following opportunities:

  • Providing support for fundraising campaigns (Membership Acquisition efforts, Annual Appeal mailing, letter of inquiry mailings)
  • Providing support for stewardship and cultivation events
  • Researching sponsorship and grant opportunities
  • Database entry and prospect tracking
  • Assisting with other various administrative duties

Being a New-York Historical Society Development Volunteer gives those who are interested in museum administration and are passionate about our nation’s history an opportunity to see how we “keep the lights on” here at New York’s oldest museum. This volunteer opportunity will allow individuals to see first-hand how a development offices runs and will give them a chance to assist in the execution of fundraising campaigns and to staff exclusive events.

The ideal Development Volunteer candidate should:

  • Be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Be able to work in a crowded environment at events and programs
  • Have excellent communication and writing skills
  • Have excellent computer skills
    • Knowledge of Altru and Google Mail Merge a plus
