Recommended for ages 9–12

Join author Varian Johnson as he leads a discussion about his novel The Parker Inheritance. A 2019 Coretta Scott King Award honoree, Johnson answers questions about his page-turning mystery, which tells the story of young girl determined to find a possible fortune hidden in Lambert, South Carolina.

When Candice Miller moves to Lambert, her grandmother’s hometown, she thinks she’s in for a boring summer. Things take an exciting turn when she finds a letter in the attic, drawing her into a decades-old puzzle. Candice embarks on some detective work to find a buried treasure and uncovers secrets about the town’s past along the way.

According to the School Library Journal, The Parker Inheritance is “the new required reading.” Don’t miss the chance to meet the author in person!
