Keeping the Continental Army fed was part of the battle. Dig in with culinary historian Lavada Nahon in our outdoor courtyard as she uncovers the meals that kept the soldiers marching.

Enjoy outdoor refreshments! Light snacks and beverages, including beer and wine, are available for cash purchase. All ages, but ID required to purchase alcohol.

George Washington’s Headquarters Tent:
Saturday, 10 am–6 pm;
​Sunday, 11 am–5 pm

Step inside the world of General George Washington as he leads the Continental Army to victory. The centerpiece of Revolutionary Summer, a replica of Washington's Headquarters Tent is on display in our outdoor courtyard on select weekends this summer. On loan from the Museum of the American Revolution (MoAR), the painstakingly detailed, hand-sewn replica was created in a collaboration between MoAR and Colonial Williamsburg. The Tent is staffed by MoAR educators, who lead visitors on an immersive tour through history.


Living History programming takes place in the courtyard, weather permitting.
In case of severe weather, it might be relocated to Smith Gallery.
