ca. 1712 with several alterations into the 20th century
This portrait was painted from a photograph and shows the beardless Lincoln when he was a lawyer and rising young political figure in Illinois; the photograph was taken on June 3, 1860, in Springfield by Alexander Hesler, who made several photos of Lincoln at that time.
