This remembrance bracelet was given to Emily Augusta Van Beuren by her sister, Josephine Frederica. The hair may have come from Josephine, although hair jewelry could be purchased commercially in the nineteenth century. These sisters were connected with the Van Beuren House, formerly on West 14th Street in New York City.
