Gallery Label: 
The subject was the daughter of Robert Bowne Minturn, Jr., and Susanna (Shaw) Minturn. She married Isaac Newton Phelps Stokes on August 21, 1895. Mrs. Stokes served as president of the New York Kindergarten Association and was a benefactor of St. George's Church.
