The daughter of Johannes and Margaret (Provoost) Van Brugh was baptized in the Dutch Church in New York on March 26, 1712. Her father was a prosperous shipper and trader of New York City. On October 16, 1735, she became the first wife of her cousin, Henry Van Rensselaer. The couple lived with their seven sons and two daughters in Claverack, New York. The donor was the great-great-great-grandson of the subject.
