This kerchief commemorates the 50th anniversary of WBAI Pacifica radio, a progressive and independent listener-sponsored station based in New York City. WBAI is one of five non-commercial, multicultural Pacifica network stations whose flagship program is the acclaimed "Democracy Now" with Amy Goodman. The kerchief was designed by Hillary Weiss, a Manhattan graphic designer and author of the book "The American Bandanna: Culture on Cloth from George Washington to Elvis" (Chronicle Books, 1990).
