The subject was born in New York, the daughter of Barnard and Mary Christina (Auchmuty) Mackay. She was married to the Very Reverend Frederick Warren Beekman in 1916 when he was dean of the Cathedral of the Nativity in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He was later appointed dean of the American Episcopal Pro-Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Paris, and most of their lives thereafter were spent in France. Mrs. Beekman left Paris in June 1940 and returned to New York where she lived until her death.
