Margaret ("Rita") Carson was the daughter of G. Assheton Carson and Elizabeth H. (Reeves) Carson of Philadelphia. She was considered one of belles of her day in the early years of the 20th century and was very much a part of New York, Newport, and Bar Harbor society, as well as that of Philadelphia.
