Marie A. Churchill, the daughter of John Augustus Churchill and Harriet S. (Heyl) Churchill, was known as one of the exceptionally beautiful ladies of New York and London society in the 1890s. She married Harold Herman John Baring, an English financier and member of the banking house of Baring Brothers and Co., at St. Thomas's Church on October 24, 1898.
