The subject was the eldest daughter of Levi Zeigler Leiter and Mary Theresa (Carver) Leiter of Chicago and Washington, D.C. She married the Honorable George Nathaniel Curzon, M.P. (1859-1925) in 1895. Her husband was appointed viceroy of India in 1899, at which time Lady Curzon received the Imperial Order of the Crown of India. She resided in India until 1904 when she returned to England in poor health. She died shortly thereafter at her family seat, Walmer Castle.
