Gold struck medal with obverse depicting seal of Lima with legend above: "CUIDAD DE LIMA" and scroll with inscription below: "HOC SIGNUM VERE REGUM EST." Reverse is inscribed: "EMPRESAS ELECTRICAS ASOCIADAS/COLOCACION/DE LA 1A/PIEDRA/DE LA/OFICINA/HIDRO-ELECTRICA/DE CHACRASANA/POR EL/H.S./ELIHU ROOT/1906."
Gallery Label: 
Elihu Root (1845-1937) was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1912. He served as Secretary of War under McKinley and Roosevelt (1899-1903) and as Secretary of State under Roosevelt (1905-1909). From 1909- 1915 he was a Republican Senator from New York.
