Mabel Elizabeth Wright was the daughter of George Curtis Wright, a carpet designer of New York. She became the second wife of Fernando Yznaga (1851-1901) on March 4, 1890. Immediately after their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Yznaga sailed to London, and it was probably while they were on this trip abroad that this miniature was painted.
