Anne Kirten, the daughter of William and Ann (Hony) Kirten, was married to Captain John Waddell on November 30, 1736. She was the only woman mentioned in the document of incorporation of the New York Society Library, signed by King George III, and she became a trustee of that institution. After the death of her husband she was one of the wealthiest women in the province.
