Description: 
Handwoven and embroidered wool harlequin pieced paisley shawl, in black, blue, red, yellow, green and mauve; the black center has 8 points from which radiate a root and plant boteh design, the outer border consists of an arabesque and boteh motif, the four outer edges are trimmed with multicolored pieces of fabric pieced together and unravelled at the ends to create fringe.

This shawl was bought in England by New York actress Gertrude Kellogg in 1882. It was originally imported from India.
