Description: 
Cast silver plate teapot; oval in plan, concave and convex fluted body tapering to an oval base; concave shoulder is raised to a flat rim; flat inset lid with a high, narrow oval dome in the center surmounted by a cast knop finial; cast s-curve spout, notched at the lip, grooved at the sides; rectangular handle sockets fitted with a squared wooden handle with a scroll thumbpiece; "T. L" engraved in block letters on the center front; maker's mark on the base.

This teapot bears the initials of Townsend Lawrence (1870-1951), a stockbroker who lived in Manhattan and maintained a country estate, Willow Bank, in Flushing.
