The last film in our free series, set during the first Continental Congress when the Declaration of Independence was drafted, attempts to humanize the remote historical figures who founded our country by making them more contemporary through song. A lively musical full of both entertainment and education, 1776 shows the Founding Fathers like you’ve never seen them on screen. It’s not hard to see how Lin-Manuel Miranda was inspired by this upbeat historical romp when he wrote Hamilton.
