The American Experiment: Dialogues on a Dream
History with David M. Rubenstein
David M. Rubenstein, Louise Mirrer (moderator)
Tuesday, December 7, 2021 | 6:30 pm ET | $38 (Members $24; Chairman’s Council, Free)

EVENT DETAILS

The American experiment began with a revolutionary idea that a nation could be founded on the principles of democracy, equality, and liberty. In a new book that highlights enlightening discussions with award-winning historians, diplomats, music legends, and sports giants—including Jill Lepore, Madeleine Albright, Henry Louis Gates Jr., Ken Burns, and Billie Jean King—“patriotic philanthropist” David M. Rubenstein traces how the American experiment, in all its promise and imperfection, has evolved over the past 250 years. Discover the ingenuity, setbacks, and social movements that continue to define what America is—and what it can be.

David M. Rubenstein, co-founder and co-executive chairman of the Carlyle Group, is the author of The American Experiment: Dialogues on a Dream and the host of History with David Rubenstein on PBS. Louise Mirrer (moderator) is president and CEO of the New-York Historical Society.
