To celebrate our exhibition Beer Here: Brewing New York's History, the New-York Historical Society is hosting a series of Saturday beer tastings by local breweries in the exhibition's Beer Hall, run by Starr Restaurants Catering Group. The program will run from May 26 through August 25; half-hour tastings will start at 2pm and 4pm. Not only will visitors get to taste some of these local creations, but there will be hops, whole leaf flowers and other beer ingredients for people to touch, smell and experience.

Pricing

Beer Tasting & Admission combined ticket: $35 (members $20). You must be 21 or older to enjoy our tasting program.

Brewery History

Empire Brewing Company opened in 1994 in Syracuse, NY. Seventeen years later, and after multiple national and international awards, the company has a successful restaurant, bar and grill in downtown Syracuse, and has expanded their brewing efforts to Brooklyn. The company puts a high priority on the use of local ingredients in their beer, using ingredients from its garden in Cazenovia. Additionally, The Empire Brewing Company is the first business in Central New York to use 100% New York State produced renewable energy. Empire Brewing Company has won many awards over the years at The Great American Beer Festival, including two gold medals in 2002 for their German-Style Marzen/Oktoberfest and their German-Style Schwarzbier. They have also won multiple awards at the World Beer Cup.

Purchasing Tickets By Phone/In Person

To purchase tickets to public programs by phone, please call the New-York Historical Society’s new in-house call center at (212) 485-9268. Call center is open 9 am–5 pm daily. Advance tickets may also be purchased on site at the New-York Historical Society admissions desk. Advance purchase is required to guarantee seating. All sales are final and payments cannot be refunded. Programs and dates may be subject to change. Management reserves the right to refuse admission to latecomers.
