Join iconic New York cartoonist Mort Gerberg as he discusses the politics of cartooning and his work of the past decades with Garry Trudeau, cartoonist and creator of the Doonesbury comic strip, and Sofia Warren, New Yorker cartoonist, illustrator, and animator. Ages 21+

Born in Brooklyn in 1931, Gerberg’s work has been regularly featured in The New Yorker, the Saturday Evening Post, and the Saturday Review, and numerous other publications. He has drawn syndicated newspaper comic strips, on television shows and websites, and edited or illustrated 45 books for adults and children, including his respected Cartooning: The Art and the Business. Gerberg also taught cartooning for 15 years at the Parsons School of Design.  

Garry Trudeau has been drawing the Pulitzer Prize-winning Doonesbury comic strip for more than 50 years. In addition to cartooning, Trudeau has worked in theater, animation, and television, most recently as the creator of Amazon’s first streaming show, Alpha House.  He lives in New York City with his wife, Jane Pauley. They have three grown children.

Sofia Warren's cartoons appear in The New YorkerNarrative MagazinePopula and elsewhere. She is also a freelance animator, and has worked with a wide variety of clients for film, commercial, and web-based work. She studied film and psychology at Wesleyan University.
