EVENT DETAILS
Join us for a special preview of the upcoming miniseries The Circus from PBS's American Experience. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring writer, producer, and director Sharon Grimberg, historian and author Dr. Janet Davis, and Roger Smith, former circus animal trainer who first worked with the legendary Clyde Beatty.
The Circus explores the colorful history of this popular, influential, and distinctly American form of entertainment, from the first one-ring show at the end of the 18th century to 1956, when the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey big top was pulled down for the last time.
AMERICAN EXPERIENCE’s The Circus premieres on October 8 and 9, 2018 on WNET Thirteen and PBS stations nationwide.
RSVP is recommended as seating is limited. RSVP to koconnor@nyhistory.org.
