The weather is warming up and it’s a great time to play outside and keep our bodies moving! This month in Sunday Story Time, read books all about amazing athletes of history!
This week, check out Players in Pigtails, written by Shana Corey and illustrated by Rebecca Gibbon. This book tells the story of fictional brave ballplayer Katie, and her journey to the real life All American Girls Professional Baseball League. In the 1940s, girls were not expected to play sports, but Katie, and many more girls across the country, loved baseball and nothing could stop them from playing it! After the story, we’ll make and decorate our own paper baseball caps!
Please note that this is not a drop-off program—child participants must be accompanied by an adult.
Major support for Family Programs is provided by Diana and Joe DiMenna. Additional generous support is from Daniel & Margaret Loeb, Shelley & Tommy Mulitz, and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
