History After Dark

Virtual Holiday Pub Crawl

  • Saturday, December 19, 2020
  • Sat, December 19, 2020 | 8-10 pm ET | $15 (Members/Young Friends $12; Chairman's Council, Free)

Raise a toast to New York’s legendary bar culture! Join us on Zoom for a lively history of the city as told through its boozy locales, from gritty pubs to grand hotels. Among the stops: McSorley's Old Ale House, the Ear Inn, the St. Regis Hotel, Trader Vic's, Fraunces Tavern, Chumley's, and much more.

Registered guests receive an advance list of recipes for about a dozen libations that span the Dutch Colonial era through the 1960s. Choose your favorite cocktail and knock one (or two!) back at home. During the tour, we'll break out into groups to compare what we're drinking and swap stories of favorite historic taverns and bars.

Led by historians James and Michelle Nevius, authors of Inside the Apple: A Streetwise History of New York City and Footprints in New York.
