We can learn more about Andrew Williams and his family by looking at the census for Seneca Village that was taken in 1855--the last census conducted before the village was destroyed.

As you can see below, census schedules have a simple layout. They are designed in vertical columns, each with a heading. The census takers went to every house and asked about the people living there. They entered the information in a chart, which was called a "schedule."
